Update: Found a place to call home, for now at least. Although Afghanistan was not even on the table when I was figuring out a route through Central Asia, somehow the Afghan embassy in Tehran was too tempting to pass up and a few weeks later I found myself hitching across the Herat border. One thing led to another, and the history, beauty, culture and challenge of this country caught my attention. Then all it took was meeting great people and an impromptu job offer, and here I am. Update: Kyle the goat, my faithful hitchhiking partner in Cameroon, is living a happy life in Belo. I left her there in the mountains with a girl named Carine, and she recently emailed with the news that Kyle has given birth to "a healthy he-goat".
